VARANASI: A minor girl, after being raped by her father for over two years, was sold by him to a man in Ghazipur in the name of marriage. Her husband forced her into flesh trade and on failing to terminate her pregnancy, abandoned her. The six-month pregnant girl took the shelter of the district legal services authority who alerted the police and both the accused were taken in custody.
ASP Azamgarh Shailendra Lal said that on the basis of the girl’s complaint, an FIR under section 376 (rape), 328 (causing hurt with mean of poison), 313 (causing miscarriage without woman’s consent), 373 (buying minor for purposes of prostitution), 372 (selling minor for purposes of prostitution) of IPC and ¾ Pocso was lodged against her father and husband on Thursday.Both the accused have been taken under custody and were interrogated by police teams, said the ASP adding, the process to get the girl’s statement recorded by the magistrate has also been started.
According to DLSA secretary Dhananjay Kumar Mishra, the minor turned up before him in his office on Thursday. The March 2006 born girl informed Mishra that her father had separated her from her mother following some dispute and kept her with him forcibly. When she was studying in class 10, her father started giving some drugs to her, said the girl adding that she remained drowsy and in the same state her father started raping her. She alleged that her father continued to rape her for two years but when the villagers came to know about they thrashed him. The girl stated in her complaint that later, in the name of marriage her father sold her to one Vipin Yadav of Ghazipur in December 2022. Vipin forced her into flesh trade and when she became pregnant, he initially tried to abort the pregnancy by giving her some pills. But when he found that despite giving the pills her pregnancy was not terminated, he left her in Raipur market and fled.
On being abandoned, the girl contacted her father but he refused to give her shelter., The girl then contacted Mishra who in turn alerted the women police. SO women police station Nitu Mishra said that after getting details of the complaint she reported the matter to senior officials. An FIR was lodged and investigation has been started in this matter, she said.
